“Love is the most powerful magic. Above all else “Love is the most powerful magic. Above all else, remember that. It will always guide you where you need to go.”

Well I finally did it! I have had this book on my TBR forEVER. I love me some Kerri Maniscalco books, with the Jack the Ripper series being one of my most reread series. I hesitated to start this book, because I know the sequel doesn’t come out until October and I really don’t have the patience to wait 6 whole months for it. But… I broke and read it and absolutely loved it.
**Synopsis (spoiler free)**
Emilia and her twin, Vittoria, are Streghe- witches who practice magic in secret to avoid detection. Their grandmother has taught them everything they know about the rules of magic, and has always warned them about dealing with the demon Princes of Hell known for their cruel tricks. These rules fly out the window when Emilia comes across the body of her murdered twin sister, and is desperate to find the killer and enact vengeance. In order to find the murderer, she finds herself having to work with one of the Princes of Hell, Wrath, and over time she comes to question everything she knows; about her family, about her magic, and about the stories she’s been told all her life.

I rated this book a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/ 5 stars!

Mostly taking off points for an undeveloped and predictable murder mystery plot line, and the slightly confusing ending. I highly recommend this book to any YA, mystery, or fantasy readers! It has dark academia vibes, and a fun enemies to lovers romance. If you are a fan of the Stalking Jack the Ripper series, Chain of Gold series, Queen’s Rising series, you will love this book!

I finally finished Ravage the Dark by Tara Sim! I I finally finished Ravage the Dark by Tara Sim! I have been excited to read this ever since i finished Scavenge the Stars in March.

Let me just start off by saying this book does not hold its punches 😅 There is a lot of twists and turns in this sequel that will not only keep you guessing but also break your freaking heart. After reading Scavenge the Stars I was hoping for an expansion of the world building done, but if absolutely nothing was cleared up for me. I think it’s due to the fact that in this completely made up world, there seem to be way too many made up countries. The characters only visit two of countries, yet 7 or 8 countries are randomly brought up.
But getting past that, it was a pretty good read! I loved the suspense element to it, and watching Cayo and Amaya work through their quest for vengeance was so satisfying. However, I felt that the ending was a huge let down and very anticlimactic.

Overall I would rate this book about a 3/5 stars. The characters were awesome and interesting! They were my favorite part of this book, and I would love to have an epilogue or something so I could find out what happens next for them. However, the author built up all this suspense only to never resolve it and that made for a mediocre ending.

That is the end of my review, however if you want to read my ranting about the ending please continue 😂
Spoiler alert! Do not keep reading unless you want to know the ending****

I mean after all the snooping and danger Cayo and Amaya went through to figure out who was behind the counterfeit coin scheme, they just weren’t there when the guy behind it was finally taken down? We find out what happens in a letter... lol. I was FURIOUS. Also, Amaya and Cayo just danced around each other the whole book! They would be so perfect for each other if they would just let go of their little grievances and realize they are both going through the same thing. But i did love how both of them went through different journeys to get their revenge, and both realized that vengeance just leaves you cold and empty in the end.

Last week, I re-read the Daughter of the Pirate Ki Last week, I re-read the Daughter of the Pirate King series! I tend to re-read books when I have a busy schedule. My husband can attest that when I am really into a new book, I lose all concept of space and time and even forget to eat or drink water! 😅 Thankfully he knows this about me and regularly interrupts to bring me snacks and water ☺️

I love how Alosa is a cruel, ruthless pirate and that point is never sugarcoated for the reader. She is just as tough and just as cruel as the other male pirates. She is also a hilarious MC, who makes the rather predictable plot of the first novel compelling enough for me to stick with the series and re read the sequel. But just as I remembered, in the second novel the author showcases a much more mature voice for Alosa and well thought out plot and brings the whole series up a few stars for me.
I give this overall series a 4/5 stars, and highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a fun lighthearted read! Who else is excited for her novel coming out in May, Blade of Secrets?!

Warning: this series will make you want to binge watch the Pirates of the Caribbean movie.

It’s been a while since I posted since I’ve been working the past couple days. As a nurse, I am up on my feet 13 hours a day for three days a week and while I love my job it can be exhausting.
I read Scavenge the Stars last week, and while I did give it a 3/5 stars I would still highly recommend it to any ya readers! Just stick through the beginning of the novel because it has a sloooow start. Let me know if you’ve read it in the comments below! ❤️
